Southside Physiotherapy - Our Team
Physiotherapists
Bjarne Kragh
Bjarne (BJ) is the Principal of Southside Physiotherapy and works at both Tuggeranong and at the Woden Integrated Physiotherapy practice in Corrina Chambers. He was born and trained in Denmark, and came to Australia in 1995. He set up the practice in Tuggeranong in February 1998. His areas of professional interest include temporo-mandibular (jaw) pain, spinal and pelvic dysfunction, and chronic pain management. Bjarne has three bilingual children and he likes playing soccer. He thoroughly enjoys his job and sees himself more as a life coach helping clients to optimise their wellbeing.
Christopher Bacchus
Chris is a senior physiotherapist and works at the Tuggeranong practice. Born and trained in Canada, he has worked with us since 2000. His professional interests include manual therapy, manipulation and movement rehabilitation. Chris is an experienced physiotherapist and is proficient in the physical diagnosis and treatment of movement and control impairments. Chris is also a lecturer at the University of Canberra in the Master of Physiotherapy programme where his clinical experience and knowledge is a valuable asset in the education of the profession's future physiotherapists. Chris enjoys swimming, camping and spending time with his wife and two sons.

Leslie Betts
Leslie trained in London and migrated to Perth in 1973 and moved to Canberra in 1994. She joined Southside Physiotherapy in 1998. Leslie now does the afternoon aquatic physiotherapy sessions at the National Brain Injury pool in Garran, and loves helping people exercise in the warm water. Married to Brian, she has three children, seven grandchildren and a very spoilt dog.

Anne Fillery
Anne is part of our Tuggeranong physiotherapy team. Her professional interests lie in the treatment of neurological dysfunction including acquired brain injury and stroke. She also provides rehabilitation programmes for clients following joint replacements and extended periods of illness. Married with two teenage children, she has lived locally for over 20 years.
Patrick Lyons
Pat has been a member of the Southside team at Tuggeranong and Fyshwick for the past 4 years, working initially as an exercise therapist until completing his Master of Physiotherapyin mid-2006. Pat's interest in physiotherapy followed on from an Applied Science (Human Biology) Degree in 2002. Pat is currently part way through a Master of Exercise and Sports Science program.
In addition to his primary role as a clinical physiotherapist, Pat shares our aquatic physiotherapy programme at the National Brain Injury pool with friend and colleague Leslie Betts. He also runs and manages the supervised gym programme which operates out of our Southside Fitness and Wellbeing Gym. Pat enjoys the social connection that is part and parcel of life as a physiotherapist. He enjoys listening to each client's story, building a rapport, and working with them to plan and implement an effective and meaningful line of treatment.
Outside of Southside Physiotherapy, Pat spends his time attempting to: expand his (severely limited) chord repertoire on the accoustic guitar; get his golf handicap below 20; improve his tennis forehand; stay in shape for local triathlons; build up his Macedonian vocabulary (to impress the future in-laws!); and win a game or two on the Oztag field. Any time left over after this is spent planning travel adventures with girlfriend Suzi.
Therese Keily-Wynter
Therese is part of the Physiotherapy team working at Tuggeranong. Her areas of professional interest include muscle and tendon strains and sports injuries, and the treatment and rehabilitation of shoulder, ankle and back injuries. Therese is married to Peter and has two sons and a daughter. She enjoys playing tennis and netball, the outdoors, travel in Australia and overseas, eating cheesecake and drinking red wine.
Kerri Edwards
As a graduate of the University of Canberra Master of Physiotherapy Degree, Kerri joined the Southside Tuggeranong team in 2008. In addition to treating acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries, she has a special interest in women’s health physiotherapy. This includes the assessment and treatment of female urinary incontinence and ante-natal conditions such as back and pelvic pain during pregnancy.
Phoebe Holland
Phoebe joined the Southside team in 2008. After graduating with a Masters of Physiotherapy from the University of Canberra in 2006, she spent two years working in the public hospital system. Prior to undertaking physiotherapy, Phoebe completed a Bachelor of Science at the Australian National University, majoring in physiology and psychology. Phoebe’s experience and interests include sports injuries, post-surgical rehabilitation, dry needling and western acupuncture, primary contact physiotherapy and paediatric physiotherapy.
In her spare time, Phoebe enjoys keeping fit and outdoor pursuits. She also likes spending time with family and friends and planning her next travel adventure.
Heather Bond
Heather graduated from the Cumberland College of Health Sciences in 1981 with Bachelor of Applied Science (Physiotherapy). She gained experience in the hospital system before venturing into the world of owning and operating her own private physiotherapy practices with her twin sister, Carole, at both the Phillip Health Centre in 1985, and the Gowrie Medical Centre in 1986. These she successfully ran for 8 years until consolidating into the Gowrie location in 1993, where Bond Physiotherapy continued to provide the Tuggeranong community with a much needed service for a further 16 years. In February 2009, Heather decided to leave the world of business ownership behind and has now enriched the Southside Physiotherapy team with her extensive knowledge and experience. She currently works at our Tuggeranong location and runs aquatic physiotherapy sessions at the Lakeside Leisure Centre.
Heather has an interest in sports and, over the years, has been active in providing physiotherapy sports coverage primarily to Royals Rugby Union Football Club and also to Rams Rugby League Football Club and Eastlake Australian Rules Football Club. She has been providing aquatic physiotherapy as a treatment option since 1995 and is keen to promote it as a great alternative to the more traditional "hands on" physiotherapy. She is currently the ACT representative to the National Aquatic Physiotherapy Group.
On a personal note, Heather is married with two wonderful girls. She has become heavily involved in netball with them, and is coaching a junior netball team and playing herself at seniors level. Her goal this year is to play netball in the World Masters' to be held in Sydney in October.
Eliot Denver
Eliot studied at the University of Western Australia completing a Bachelor of Science (Exercise and Health Science) followed by Honours in Biomechanics. He then spent some time at the Australian Institute of Sport in the Biomechanics and Performance Analysis Department as a Postgraduate Scholar where he worked with the AIS Cricket Centre of Excellence in Brisbane. After completing a Masters of Physiotherapy at the University of Canberra, Eliot joined the team at Southside Physiotherapy in June 2009.
With a background in elite sport, Eliot’s interests include pelvis and lower limb biomechanics and rehabilitation for return to sport. He plans to complete a Masters of Sports Physiotherapy with the aim of one day being a part of the Australian Olympic Team as a Physiotherapist.
